Copyediting is often one of the final steps before publication. By this point, you've probably already gone through countless edits, and possibly even enlisted the expertise of other editing services to develop the best story you could have. Copyediting is just the final polishing before releasing the finished product.
Black Lotus Copyediting will comb through each manuscript meticulously for typos, spelling and grammatical errors, omissions, and anything else generally out of place. We may even provide some sentence structure and flow suggestions.
Black Lotus Copyediting will not look for plot holes, or comment on other story elements such as character development, pacing, or a story's overarching plot (unless there is something really egregious). If that's something you're looking for, you probably want a developmental editor.
Black Lotus Copyediting charges a flat rate of $250 for the first 50k words (less than half of what competitors charge). After 50k words, there is an additional charge of $0.01 per word. We ask for half up front, and the rest will be collected when the project is completed. Venmo is our preferred method of payment.
